Garth Brooks cancels Thanksgiving appearance on Tonight Show after Ferguson decision
The singer wrote on his Facebook page that he landed in New York on the night the grand jurys decision was announced 'to the news of the civil unrest that was going on in our nation.'
Singer Garth Brooks has canceled a Thanksgiving appearance on NBCs Tonight show because he said it seemed distasteful given the reaction to the decision not to prosecute Ferguson, Missouri, police officer Darren Wilson for the shooting of Michael Brown this summer.
NBC on Wednesday confirmed the postponement, saying Brooks was being replaced on the show by Whoopi Goldberg and Tom Colicchio.
Brooks wrote on his Facebook page that he landed in New York on the night the grand jurys decision was announced to the news of the civil unrest that was going on in our nation. To spend the day promoting our stuff like nothing was wrong seemed distasteful to me.

heh, that’s all good, but you’re still giving him too much credit! These libidiots are better just keeping their mouths shut.
I’ve never understood why this tub of lard, who wears his jeans three sizes too small, was so popular.
One more down!
.
How cute! Country music has its own Bruce Springsteen...

Some (not all) of the lyrics of his song are pretty lefty:
“We Shall Be Free” - Garth Brooks
This ain’t comin’ from no prophet
Just an ordinary man
When I close my eyes I see
The way this world shall be
When we all walk hand in hand
When the last child cries for a crust of bread
When the last man dies for just words that he said
When there’s shelter over the poorest head
We shall be free
When we’re free to love anyone we choose
When this world’s big enough for all different views
When we all can worship from our own kind of pew
Then we shall be free
We shall be free
What’s wrong with White Christmas?
Not to mention that everything he recorded since "Ropin' The Wind" has been utter crap. That was 23 years ago.
Yep. He supports the rioters. His actions tell the protestors they can stop society in it’s tracks. Just like any other terrorist.
You’re my kinda FReeper!
Way to take one for the team.
Many years ago Conway Twitty and his band was playing a little joint in the South. This was before Conway had hit it big. They came in wearing red suits. The owner of the club said “If they yodel, they got to go.”
If you listen to Garth Brooks he sounds like he’s about half yodeling.
Little man. Big hat.

Best and most astute quote I’ve read on here. Four words and directly to the point.
Garth who?
Good bad or indifferent I never cared that much about his music as such. But he did
have a very successful music career. I found this tidbit I wouldn’t have ever guessed
as being close to fact.
In January 2012, Brooks was crowned the top-selling artist of the last two decades. Since
1991, he has sold 68,561,000 units, some five million more than the No. 2 act the Beatles.
