Senate Democrats Face Long Minority
American Thinker ^ | November 19, 2014 | Bruce Walker

Posted on 11/19/2014 10:11:21 AM PST by right-wing agnostic

Recently I wrote about the prospects of Democrats facing a long minority in the House of Representatives. The same is true of the Senate. Democrats have tried to put a brave face on the 2014 results, noting that in 2016 the Senate map will favor their party, when the Senate Class of 2010 – the Republican landslide midterm – face voters. A review of those races, however, suggests that some states may in a good year be able to gain three seats – Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin – but the other imagined “tough race” for Republicans would require a Democrat wave to unseat.

Ayotte in New Hampshire, Portman in Ohio, and Rubio in Florida are considered so strong that each has been mentioned as presidential timber. The other two “vulnerable” seats – North Carolina and Iowa – are not vulnerable at all. North Carolina is a red, not a purple, state, and Grassley in Iowa is very popular. Republicans have a good chance of gaining seats in Colorado and Nevada. The sobering fact for Democrats in all this is that if they do not capture the Senate in 2016, it may be a long, long time before they have a majority in that chamber again.

In 2016, Republicans defend only eight seats, seven of those in red states – Arizona, Mississippi, Nebraska, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming – and the other seat in Nevada, a purple state. Democrats, in contrast, will be defending 23 seats, including four races they should not have won in 2012 – Indiana, Missouri, Montana, and North Dakota – and four other races they could easily lose – Florida, Ohio, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Hedi in North Dakota will vote left but when she is back in N.D. she will sound like a FREEPER.

Dorgan and Conrad were famous for voting left and sounding conservative when they were back in the state.

Senate Democrats Face Long Minority

Bull sh*t!

They’re about to grant amnesty to over 5 million illegals, and a short time later grant them citizenship! The Dems are going to be the majority once again for perpetuity!

We’re about to have our a$$es handed to us!

I am pessimistic too, but a tad less. After going over all the races, I can easily see the GOP losing IL, PA, and WI. The good news will be we will still have the majority, and could pull a flip in CO if the GOP puts up a decent candidate.

I agree with you.

This author is truly delusional -- he must be a GOPe puke.

On Thursday the Marxist will take the steps to insure 10's of millions of new RAT voters in the next few years.

I have no doubt the evil RATS and evil RINOs are routing the illegal criminals to the States that can be flipped to the RATs.

Really? I missed the swearing in of the new congress critters, when was that?

Buttholes won't even give the new congress critters an opportunity to take office, before you start throwing your purification crap at them.

You don't need to reset, you are already a ZERO.

The GOPe WANTS to be in the safe minority. Isn’t this obvious by now?

I think they should go after Reid again. If Gov Sandoval challenges him, Soiled Harry could be in for a fight. Hard to see Bennet of CO being vulnerable now but no one thought that about Mark Warner either, or even Mark Udall.

I can guarantee some democrat retirements between now and then too, these power hungry idiots never like being in the minority for long.

Just remember that in January 2009 the Democrats had 60 Senate seats. In January 2015 they’ll have 45. All it will take is a disaster of Republican president. And if anyone can force one on us it’s the GOP establishment.

The third paragraph begins “In 2016.” That should be “In 2018.”

Depends. Amnesty could destroy Dems’ hopes of getting the senate back in a generation. It may not stop amnesty, but the mood of the country is so anti-Obama/anti-Dem right now that anything is possible.

I regret my posting purification crap upset you. It was not my intention to personally slam you or any particular person within the GOP which I am not wishing to purify, if that is your meaning.

No, I am not a Republican Party member; I just vote for some GOP candidates who happen also to be Constitutional conservatives.

And..."buttholes" have always been allowed to post on FR. So, I hope you feel better now. I do.

BTW, regarding my FR username: Yes, I know.

I'm not pessimistic. However, I am going to say if ILLEGALS get citizenship, the Marxists will win in 2016. What the Tea Party needs to do is this:

1) Organize a tea party group in all 50 states.

2) Start a candidate training school.

3)Fight RINOs and Marxists for the next 2 years.

I never questioned your right to post, I merely axed if I missed the swearing in of the congress critters that you claimed are filling the void with the same crap.

This period of time between an election and the new congress consists of all the old members, and yet you are dumping on the new folks and they aren't even in DC yet.

You are now negative one so a reset to zero is an improvement for you.

This is not about my feelings, so if you feel better, I'm happy for you.

Grassley in Iowa is very popular.

Not only that, but that farmer is the likely future head of the Senate Judiciary Committee. If he gets turned out, there is the risk that the seat may be taken by a lawyer.

"Senate Democrats Face Long Minority"

No they don't. Mitch and his Senate friends are already donning their kneepads and preparing to service the minority Democrats. They'll do anything to keep Obama and his Democrats happy.

It is going to be a looooong 2 years, but that is about how long the Republicans will hold this majority. After they lose it, I expect McConnell to switch parties.
