Jaguars cornerback Dwayne Gratzs first trip to Miami ended with a visit to jail. Gratz was arrested at 5:53 a.m. Sunday by the Miami Beach Police Department following a disturbance and was cited for disorderly intoxication and trespassing. Police were called when a store employee balked at Gratzs request to pay for his items with bubble gum instead of money.

This kind of nonsense helps the NFL because the NFL is now a soap opera for grown men.
The pro sports with non-massively popular minor league systems probably have a big leg up in that regard. It’s a lot easier to bench or cut problems when the problems are playing 2nd base for the Altoona Curve or the Richmond Flying Squirrels.

Yup. Lots of tertiary industries like fantasy and gambling around football at all levels. It basically drives sports media. And after fruity celebratory capering and self-congratulatory chest slapping displays became commonplace, it only became even more popular.
