This might be as fun as reading the Great Soviet Encyclopedia during the Cold War—where one could learn that the incandescent light bulb was invented by Lodinov, the airplane was invented by Mozhaiskii, etc.

In old totalitarian school textbooks they wrote that light bulb was invented by Edison, and he used carbon filament. Russian engineer Lodygin made light bulb with tungsten filament. They asserted that first plane was invented by Wright brothers if my sclerosis does not betray me. Mozhaiski made first Russian airplane according to Soviet Encyclopedia. Also they did not assert it was Tsar Ivan the Terrible who discovered Roentgen rays.
