Would have been nice if he could have pulled it out, but I’m sure the Virginia democrat machine made sure there was no chance of that happening. I guess it was a race that was never suppose to have been close anyway so winning would have just been “gravy” on an already great election night...
“Virginia democrat machine made sure there was no chance of that happening. “
Actually, enough people thought Warner was a pragmatist. He got enough crossover votes to win. The Roanoke Times is now saying that his problems came because he wasn’t liberal enough.
Just imagine if the GOP would actually get behind it’s Virginia candidates and invest some money in defeating Democrat opponents. First, Ken Cuccinelli had a late surge and narrowly missed a major last minute upset over Terry “The Punk” McAuliffe in the Virginia’s governor’s race earlier this year. And now, Ed Gillespie falls just shy of knocking off the Democrat incumbent’s senate seat.
Virginia used to be a Republican stronghold. So why has the GOP all but practically abandoned the state in recent years???
the Virgina democrat machine exists to get out the vote in three localities, Fairfax, Arlington and Alexandria. Just like in Maryland it’s Montgomery, Prince George’s and Baltimore counties.
The remainder of both states is demonstrably more conservative than those few areas.
