Three new mosaics have been unearthed as part of the Muzalar House excavations in the ancient city of Zeugma, in Turkey's southern province of Gaziantep. AA Photos
Gorgeous!
build a dome over it?
Is that one of the mosaics?
That is a pretty awesome survivor if it is. That isn’t a reproduction?
It is a damn shame that Anatolia fell into the hands of the Turks. What treasures were there that we will never find, what magnificent peoples who were killed, raped, savaged and beheaded until Turks subdued the entire place. If Christians had their sh*# together back then, it never would have happened.
To all muzzies: “You didn’t make that.”
Spectacular!!
Those are the nine Muses depicted.
The archeologists dug the earth, as well as the acclaim they received.
That is really beautiful!
Still curious:
Where are these mosaics? A public space or private home/house? The article mentions some carved rock houses and, oh yeah!..we also found these mosaics...It sounds like they are in different places.
What is their age?
Wonder what the 3rd one looks like?
All of this is neater than sliced bread....
Family photo album, I presume?
I checked this out and the place is really close to Syria. It would be just like that ISIS scum to vandalize the place and sell the stuff on the black market.
