You must be a very good-looking gal! I agree, saying “thank you” is the thing to do when it’s a nice compliment. (Trouble is, sometimes it starts out that way, but when you say “thank you,” the guy takes it as encouragement and it then becomes creepy!)
Guess we have to take it on a case-by-case basis.
You said “when you say thank you, the guy takes it as encouragement and it then becomes creepy”
Sure, anything can go awry....and it’s just best to keep walking, and ignore anything that sounds sexual or off center.
“As for good looking”..I don’t think that was the reason that guy stopped...I could have been ‘Nancy Pelosi’, and he would of jumped the median, as he was not even on my side of the road....something weird about him.
I’m older now, and maybe from afar I have a stronger appeal to men than I deserve..lol I don’t know...”beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”. Some men need glasses.
I wasn’t there 2 minutes before he wheeled across the median that was 6”- 8” inches high... from the other side of the road going a different way than I was headed, scary... but ‘mercury was in retrograde’.
He seemed angry when I waved him to go away.....some people just want to connect with anyone who will allow them to stop.
His looks had nothing to do with why I got upset
...it was the craziness of the situation....and he wouldn’t keep going when I waved him on.... he insisted on trying to talk to me...that was the upsetting part. I thanked him for stopping but I told him I would call the police, if he got out of that truck. I started dialing, and he left.
I wasn’t in the mood to deal with a possible alcoholic or mental case. I had to make a split second decision....I may have seemed mean to him...however, he was the only one that over reacted. I was parked off the road. Within a few more minutes we made the exchange and I was headed home....my lesson learned.
