Likened to 'packing foam' and 'gray IKEA furniture' the McDonald's McRib patty came under scrutiny last year after one was photographed on the production line minus sauce and pickles. But now the fast food giant is hoping to get people 'lovin" its seasonal treat again by showing exactly how the boneless, preformed morsel is made. A new behind-the-scenes video takes viewers inside the Lopez Foods production facility in Oklahoma City where giant chunks of pork are ground down - no packing foam in sight.

Grant is in there...

I’m glad to see they de-boned them. (?)
[ The other white meat. ]
No, it’s the “Other OTHER white meat” it is what happens to employees that get “laid off” at mcdonalds....
(Cannibalism Joke)
[ Does that video feature Grant Imahara, formerly of Mythbusters? I heard his new gig was doing spots for McDonalds busting myths that their food is made out of pig ears and sawdust. ]
That is hillarious, It is not “Pig Ears and Sawdust” it is actually “Pig Rectums and Floor Sweepings” GET TI RIGHT NEXT TIME OR YOU WILL BE ZOTTED!!!
:P
[ I didnt know that some rectums had bones. ]
If it did it would put new meaning to the term “Wrecked ‘em”
[ The photo is likely real: Apparently pork rectums are a delicacy in some parts of the world. And supposedly they have a consistency similar to calamari ]
You know what is delicious, though my friends think I am crazy, it is “Pho Noodle Soup with Tripe” (Tripe being cow stomach cut intot little strips) it reminds me a calimari for some reason and the Vietnamese Soup base witht he noodles and fresh basil and bean sprouts is just deliciouso!
[ Folks eat at McDonalds for relatively cheap, safe food while on the road. I sometimes eat there in town when I want something fast. It is fast food, and that is not evil. If it was wrong, there wouldnt be so many McDonalds... ]
It does excel at consistency!
[ The McRib is made with tripe, heart and scalded stomach. That’s why I won’t ever touch one. ]
Organ Meat is very good for you.
I'm pretty sure it killed 'em.
Sausage, without the skin and differently seasoned.
I saw what you did there! ;)
At least with McDonald's and the other chains, you know that food quality will be consistent. If you are health-minded, their salads are decent, as are the fruit cups.
Being just a few miles away from a couple of Kansas City area barbeque places that make most of the top ten barbeque joints in America lists, I have never tried a McRib. If I lived in Maine, I would not go to the Red Lobster.
First the Chinese, then US.
Parts is parts.
I’d hate to see how they de-bone them...
as long as it tastes good
Nope. Someone who ate nothing but McDonalds, and who ate 5,000 calories a day, does not interest me. I avoid carbs when I can, ride horses, jog, and use portion control to watch my weight. I would never eat 3 meals a day at McDonalds.
But on the road? Yeah, I’ll eat fast food burgers, usually from the value meal. A Double Cheeseburger & a Diet Coke runs around 450 calories, costs $2.25-2.50, and will keep me going for hours.
