The thing about Hollywood is they’re not actually attempting to do anything to advance gay people. The only gays they’re putting on are the flamboyant parade-gay types like Ross Matthews. To me, it’s not funny, it’s just annoying. Hollywood is laughing AT them, not WITH them. This goes clear back to the Three’s Company days. The whole plot line of Jack Tripper pretending to be gay to be roommates with two women was just an excuse to line up fag jokes all the time. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Nowadays it more subtle. Hollywood just throws them up there to get laughed at. The gays that don’t talk with a lisp and don’t pound out the sexual one-liners every 5 seconds need not apply.

They’re upsetting the gays who see this. They’re upsetting those of us who are sick of seeing this crap shoved at us constantly. As usual, they think they’re doing a service when they’re making nobody happy.

“The thing about Hollywood is they’re not actually attempting to do anything to advance gay people ... Hollywood is laughing AT them, not WITH them.”

So many instances negate these claims. Here are just a few:

- Will and Grace was the first serious shot to win over women to support the homos. It was unfortunately successful.

- ThirtySomething presented homosexuals in a relationship that was just as ‘normal’ as the other normal couples in the show.

- Halt and Catch Fire had a gratuitous homo scene involving its lead character.
