Really; now theyll know how benevolent policemen can be.
Here in NJ years ago minorities raised a great hue & cry about racial profiling by the State Police on the NJ Turnpike (which runs from the south of the state up to NYC). Rather than risk their badges, pensions, and freedom, the police simply stood down and settled for writing accident reports. The impact in the cities in northern NJ was immediate; the minority mayors started whining about the spike in gun and drug crimes (among their minority populations), and nothing has been done to remedy it. In fact, some have been forced to lay off police officers due to budget constraints (Trenton would no longer squeeze the makers to provide services for the takers); the drugs and guns that were being intercepted by the State Police now found their way to their destinations unhindered.
Be careful what you wish for...
That’s what most of the noise about racial profiling is - gang members and other criminals and their enablers in the legal system, political and the media trying to intimidate the police to make it easier for criminals to do their jobs with less interference from the Police and to put the police on the defensive
Absolutely, but NJ is segregated enough so that it might work. A couple of weeks ago (white) police in Lyndhurst NJ (a couple of miles north of me) shot & killed the (black) driver (from Newark NJ) of a stolen car that tried to ram his way out after being boxed in.
Not a peep from the black community (there is none there), and only regrets from the white community that the passenger wasn’t also killed. The police will protect their own suburbs (where their families live) - like the “Strategic Hamlet” policy in Vietnam - but simply draw higher salaries and pass the time in the darker ghettoes.
