4 Penn State players arrested in "egg throwing" incident

Oh, those crazy college kids.

Four Penn State players were arrested Thursday night – mischief night – for an “egg throwing situation,” according to Onward State.

The four players, tight end Brent Wilkerson, safety Anthony Smith, center Wendy Laurent and defensive end Garrett Sickels, were all charged with criminal mischief for throwing eggs at Beaver Hall, an on-campus residence hall.

Discipline from head coach James Franklin could be on the way.

“We are aware of the egg throwing situation that occurred Thursday evening and will determine the appropriate measures for the four squad members involved,” Franklin said in statement.

The incident, which was reported to police by a student at Beaver Hall, took place between 10:36 and 11:18 p.m. Thursday night.

Sickels, a redshirt freshman, has played in all seven games this season, registering three tackles and a sack. In six games, Wilkerson, a sophomore, has two catches for 18 yards and a touchdown while Laurent, who has played in four games this year, saw his most significant playing time last weekend against Ohio State. With starting tackle Donovan Smith questionable to play Saturday against Maryland, Laurent, also a sophomore, was potentially set to see some more playing time. Now his status is up in the air.

Smith has not played this season.

The Nittany Lions and Terps square off at noon Saturday at Beaver Stadium.

1. Were these evil Penn State Players throwing underage eggs?
2. Will there be new sanctions imposed?

You can make fun of whomever you want, but you can expect the trash talk to return. The other poster wasn’t honestly alleging the players were pedophiles, it was a reference to your school’s scandal. You know that.

No one has a right to destroy your property. Nor did I even remotely hint at that.

From the article: The incident, which was reported to police by a student at Beaver Hall, took place between 10:36 and 11:18 p.m. Thursday night.

(Well, whadda ya know? Somebody on the Penn State campus does know how to report a crime, after all! (There's hope for the Nittany Lion culture, after all, versus all the denial we've seen re: all of the staffers on paid leave for over a year + Paterno, etc.)

Are you excited for the emmert deposition next week? Oh wait. You have no idea what I’m talking about, because you have no idea about ANYTHING about this mess other than the headlines you scanned and the pre-existing hate you brought to the discussion.

If GS, TC, and/or GS were guilty of anything they would have flipped on one another by now. As it is we’ll have the ncaa flipping on peetz, surma, and the 11-11 bot.

Wrong side of history = you. Live with it.

“over a year?” How about nearly 3 years. Speedy trial indeed, huh?

Again, you know nothing about what you’re attempting to lecture me on. Probably best that you stop.

Why hasn’t there been a trial? Tell me why you think there hasn’t been a trial.

Hostile, aren't you? (And a mind reader too ...seemingly omniscient about what I know or don't know on a sub-topic you before it was even discussed on this thread ...vs. forum rules, IMA)

(And you complain about somebody being hostile toward your property)

As to the trial Question...haven't researched all the reasons for the delays leading up to 2014...

But once they got to 2014...what? You truly don't know?

OK...since you asked...I'll fill you in. In the cases of Curley & Schultz, their prelim hearings took place in July. So, not only NOT unusual for the trial to not be underway ... but t'would be quite rare in cases of this magnitude to have PRELIM hearings in July and then be in full-out trial mode by October.

Once you get to prelim hearings' stage, prosecutors like a lil' time to air out in case a defendant wants to plea out in the interim.

As for Spanier, he filed a lawsuit vs. attorney gen in April. When those kinds of things are done, all the powers that be tend to redouble efforts to ensure care that all their bases are covered.

Besides, you know constitutional rights. If ANY of these defendants wanted to be in any kind of hurry, they have a right to tell their attorneys to stress to the court that they have a right to a speedy trial.

So tell us JoePa ... why haven't they told their attorneys to go before the court to claim that right?

They have no evidence. On top of that Cynthia Baldwin makes all 3 cases moot anyway. Why haven’t they flipped?

Why is it that the ncaa is crumbling - and the bot is soon to follow - before CS/GS/GS?

The reason is that CS/GS/GS have always told the truth. You can’t improve on the truth.

The ncaa and the bot (including erickson) on the other hand have always lied. Their day is coming sooner than you think.

My question:

Any discipline in today's game for these players?

Any of them sit out?

Since this was deemed a "nothin'" by various FREEPERs & the College Game Day crew, perhaps the Nittany Lions could implement a Punt, Egg-TossPass & Kick competition among players @ some future halftime home event...

Btw, there was some kind of "pre-game skirmish" (shoving & pushing) tween Penn State & Maryland today, so the Maryland captains responded to that by refusing to shake hands with the Penn State captains @ the pre-game mtg.

Maryland then took it to Penn State on the field...handing the 'Lions loss #4 in a row...@ before Penn State's fans at that!

Not a Maryland fan, by any means, but happy to see Penn State go down (again)!

So you applaud this?:

Stefon Diggs should have been ejected before the game even began. As far as the handshake goes, MD was 1-1-35 vs. PSU coming into today. Seems fitting they finally get a win against a team with 43 available scholarship student athletes and 7 total offensive lineman.

If they can't beat them now, they should just end their program (which operates at a multi million dollar loss every year).

(Didn't applaud anything except a Maryland win)

From reading the article, MD had a 15 yd penalty on opening kickoff for something. So obviously refs had situation in hand & marked it off accordingly.
