Yes. All of my vertical glass in the greenhouse uses argon. It provides efficient solar transmission and a useful U value of .2 for double pane. My roof glass uses Krypton for a U value of .1. Krypton is very expensive.

No and no. Windows use nitrogen and vacuum tubes ideally have no gas in them.
