A Santa Fe sheriff's deputy has been charged in the murder of a fellow officer after allegedly shooting him during a booze-fueled fight at a Las Cruces hotel, authorities said.

The two deputies drank at Dublin's Street Pub Monday and began arguing. The fight escalated at Hotel Encanto de las Cruces, where the deputies were staying after extraditing a prisoner to Safford, Ariz.
Just after midnight, Martin tried to flee into an elevator, but he was shot in the back and arms after 27-year-old Chan allegedly fired multiple rounds, according to Sheriff Robert Garcia..
Martin, who has three young children, was pronounced dead at MountainView Regional Medical Center. Garcia notified Martin's wife early Tuesday, and called both deputies "hardworking."

Umm, if they were Santa Fe deputies, then why didn’t they just go home after returning from AZ. Why were we even paying for a room for them when they live there?
