Warbirds Will Take To The Air Over Martinsville Speedway History will come alive once again, both on the track and in the air, as Martinsville Speedway welcomes back The Warbirds Flyover Team for the Goody's Headache Relief Shot 500 Oct. 26. The Warbirds, a group of five former military pilots flying vintage post-World War II-type aircraft, will present the pre-race flyover. The Warbirds have performed since 2009 at other sporting events, including the 2013 CokeZero 400 at Daytona International Speedway, the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, the Jacksonville Jaguars and Miami Dolphins football games, and the Players Championship golf tournament. The Warbirds are based out of the Southeast and are led by Henry K. "Hoot" Gibson, a former naval aviator and Gulf War veteran.(

Kahne Helps Promote Breast Cancer Awareness At Martinsville: #5-Kasey Kahne is familiar with the curbs in the turns at Martinsville Speedway. He's raced around them, and sometimes over them, for a decade. Wednesday he got a different view of those curbs as he helped 10 breast cancer survivors paint a section of them pink in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. "Our curbs are famous in the sport. They are iconic," said Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell. "So it is fitting that we paint them pink for such a great cause."
"It's a pretty tough curb," said Kahne, speaking from experience. The curbs will be pink for the Goody's Headache Relief Shot® 500 weekend Oct. 24-26. Chevrolet also rolled out the pink Chevrolet SS Sedan pace car that will be used for the Goody's Headache Relief Shot 500. It is part of a larger program sponsored by Chevrolet that includes a contribution of $250 for every lap the pace car leads under caution during the race. "Last year we had 111 caution laps in the October race here," said Jeff Chew, marketing manager for Chevrolet's racing program. "I hate to say keep it up, Clay (Campbell), but keep it up and we'll generate some money." This is Chevrolet's fourth year of raising money for the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. To date Chevy's efforts have netted more than $3 million. Tickets to the Goody's Headache Relief Shot 500 on October 26, the Kroger 200 on October 25 and the Virginia Lottery Pole Day on October 24 can be purchased by calling 1.877.RACE.TIX.
