Maytag is foreign owned now and has become junk. I had a Whirlpool Duet front loader and dryer for 8.5 years and never had a lick of trouble with either. I plan on getting another set for our new house.

Not true. Maytag is a Whirlpool brand now. The old Maytag HQ and most of the former Maytag factories are closed.
