The only thing I can figure is that some kind of interlingual thing is happening here, and that "boastful" stands in for "prominent". Following up on this, I note that the Ivan Eder link on the APOD page has a language choice of MAGYAR ENGLISH. 'Nuf said.

I'm afraid I only managed to display my ignorance of constellation lore.

Cassiopeia is named after the vain queen Cassiopeia in Greek mythology, who boasted about her unrivalled beauty.
