I saw one at a friend’s house, lithograph print. Very high quality litho.
This man is a fantastic Painter. I suggest you buy his work now. I pray that the artist is left alone, but dont be surprised at any attempts to ‘Lois Lerner” him into bankruptcy should Obola begin to feel threatened and need a new scapegoat.
I draw but do not paint nearly as well as this. If you can afford it, go for the purchase, as a patron of his work. I like that he does not overly rely on using extremely bright colors to define his subjects. There is room for the Fauve approach, but too many artists use Fauve or compositions dominated by a dynamic splash of color as a crutch, a sort of glittery panacea.
I have two of his works, both prints, “The Forgotten Man” and “Stand Your Ground”.
Love the way he communicates via his paintings, so very powerful and well executed.
No regrets at all.
I haven’t thought of these paintings in a long time, but when I looked again at “The Forgotten Man”, where Obama is trampling on the Constitution, it is still a moving and disturbing image.
A wonderful choice in art and patronizing a wonderful artist.
I got to speak to one of his assistants at his Salt Lake City gallery... really nice people.
His love of God and our country’s principles is deep and genuine. You won’t regret it. His work is beautiful, truthful, and transcendent.
As an artist and conservative, the best advice that I can provide is that if you purchase and original or reproduction of any painting, you should do so only for the pleasure it brings you. McNaughton’s work has an emotional appeal for a segment of potential buyers; but buyers who elevate the price of paintings (and enourage their “investment value”) may not be all that enamoured with McNaughton’s work. It is a tricky thing and no matter what a gallery or dealer tells you, do not buy on the basis of “investment value”, unless of course, the work in question is a Rembrant, Van Gogh etc. whose purchase history is one of price escalation and increased value. And even then you might find yourself as “last fool” purchaser.
