Notes: While teams in both NASCAR series in action at Talladega this weekend will run the same left-side tire code (D-4596), they will run distinct right-side codes . . . Sprint Cup teams will be on a new right-side tire code (D-4630) . . . compared to what these teams ran at Talladega in May, this right-side features a compound change for better wear . . . Goodyear engineers made the change based on what they have seen of the track surface, which is now eight years from it's last re-pave (2006) . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Talladega . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.
Hamlin's jackman injured at Charlotte UPDATE: #11-Denny Hamlin's jackman Nate Bolling suffered an injury Saturday night that sidelined him for half the race. After stop 3, the #11 car had back up jackman Kenneth Purcell in the race and ended up finishing the race with him. We're not exactly sure what happened to Nate but talking to sources close to the team, it looks like it could be a torn bicep or tricep. Nate is an exceptional jackman and a tuff dude, so if he went out of the race after stop 3 then we can expect the injury is substantial. Filling in for Nate was veteran jackman and JGR back up, Kenneth Purcell. Kenneth has been jacking a long time and has 4 championships to his name with the #48 team.
AND The MRI came back and it showed a torn Tricep. Nate is obviously out for the rest of this year but should be back for the start of the 2015 season. We've heard he could have surgery as early as this week to repair the tear. Back up Kenneth Purcell will take over duties for the rest of the season.(Pit Talks)(10-15-2014)
