Serbia's Euro 2016 qualifier against Albania was abandoned on Tuesday evening after a drone flown over the Partizan Stadium pitch carrying the pro-Albanian banner led to a clash between the two sets of players.

Serbia and Albania playing a soccer game. What could possibly go wrong?

They said a helicopter toy dropped the flag, could it have been a drone that did it? The Serbs unfortunately have already had plenty of crowd problems in the past but it sounds like the players were brawling more than the fans from what I heard earlier.

My understanding is that it was a drone carrying a flag of Greater Albania. Not really smart thing to do in Belgrade.

Partizan Stadium? That name won't appeal to the četnici and the fans of Draža Mihailović.

Those whacky Balkan folks. Nursing grudges that are a thousand years old.

Of course the Leftists in our Country are trying to import this same Balkanization mentality - and they are doing a very good job of it.

Arkan was part owner of one of those clubs over there and yes, it draws all sorts out. I remember watching a World Cup Yugoslavia was in, I think they were pretty good and their fans had a banner that said “Red Star Army” or something.

The top league of Yugoslavia, they are probably like Israel and other countries where the name of the club indeed does tell you something about the history.

Partizan remains a top club.

The name has probably been there since the war or since the stadium was built, if that was later. A lot of the Partisans were Serbs. The Red Army drove the Germans out of Belgrade in October 1944, 70 years ago, and Tito & company ran things from then on. Only people 80+ would have opinions based on what they knew or experienced in the war, while the rest were fed pro-Tito propaganda growing up. I doubt many people in Belgrade have any problem with the name of the stadium.

“Serbia and Albania playing a soccer game. What could possibly go wrong?”

Maybe another excuse for yet another Balkan war.

Ireland drew Germany, Eire, Republic of Ireland’s John O’Shea in his 100th international appearance scored late in the game to tie it up.

This has been an exciting round of internationals all the way around.

Yesterday, Iceland of all people defeated Netherlands. Iceland has been up and coming but obviously, a big upset. 2-0.

Draža Mihailović has made a comeback of sorts among Serbs since the breakup of Yugoslavia. He even has fans on this board.

Remember, Enver Hoxha built these all over the country....

Because he was so paranoid of being invaded by Yugoslavia.

Well, Serbia and Albania have no common border (unless Serbia re-occupies Kosovo), so a war seems unlikely.

I think there was a brief war in 1969 between El Salvador and Honduras that was sparked by a soccer game.

The British Isles have been doing real well: England, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and Wales, are all on top or near the top of their groups.

Kosovo is populated by ethnic Albanians; I doubt Serbs even distinguish between the two.
