PORTLAND — The National Weather Service says dangerous sneaker waves are possible this weekend on the coast of Oregon and Southwest Washington.

Waves as high as 18 feet could unexpectedly reach farther up the beach than expected or knock people off jetties and rocks.

The weather service says people at the beach shouldn’t turn their back on the surf.

end nothing follows

...and watch out for those sneakers and tennis shoes in those waves - they can be painful.

You can see what that NW Low is pushing to WA and OR. Kinda like a hurricane.. just bigger in its Southern bands.

The long seasonal drought might start to end next week. We’ve had only 3 inches of rain this year in southeastern WA.

Oh, you don’t want to know about the Centex drought. Every city all around us is out of drought, storms are still dodging us.

We need 40” just to refill our lakes and aquifers.

Heck, if out in the ocean the only time I am not facing the surf is when I dive underwater beneath a wave.
No sense in getting slammed by a huge wave one didn't notice. Always be aware of what the water is doing around you!

I live in Tx as well and live on a lake...or what used to be a lake. It is drying up before my eyes.

I learned that the hard way going out to Hatteras. Rough as the surf is there, you’re not going to see an 18 footer outside of a hurricane.

Funny, or not so funny thing...I had never been to the ocean the first time I went to Mexico several years ago. I was walking along the secluded beach we were on and looked up and a giant wave nearly took me home. Pie de le cuesta..or something like that. If a friend hadn’t pulled me out I would not be here today.

I think there is a hotel in Vancouver or Washington that is supposed to be the best NW seaside storm watching hotel there is. I have seen it on the tube but I forget the location and name.
