She seems a little too eager, so I think it is like the other 90% of the commercials these days - about ED.

I can’t answer your questions... but... as much as I detest AARP, this particular commercial makes me laugh every time it comes on.

(Its like 1933, mixed with the Carter 70s, plus the books 1984 and Animal Farm, all at the same time.)

I’m like ya.... I throw away everything that says AARP on it. But we have a lively discussion going on about this commercial and I was just curious...

She's a pushy know-it-all female (admired by all feminists) and he is handling her aggression with subtle humor as he sees no benefit in defending his manhood because he just doesn't find her sexy anymore.

Like dozens of other commercials, I’m thinking that he’s just being shown as the clueless husband getting educated by his smarter wife. It seems that most commercials nowadays follow that pattern.

Horrifically written and poorly acted dialog.
He's supposed to be wry in the face of her condescending claptrap.

Personally .... I thought it was pretty funny. Which somehow adds to MRS KJAM22’s argument.

I dropped AARP when they supported Obamacare. I signed up with AMAC - The Association of Mature American Citizens.

That’s my take too. Typical media portrayal of men as stupid, ignorant, and immature, lost without their wives to do the real thinking. This one is a tad more obnoxious than most.

Right now? :) Yeah... I don’t want anything to do with AARP either. But the commercial is kinda funny (at least at some level) and it has sparked a lively discussion. MRS KJAM22 says I wouldn’t have answered “right now” when the lady says we need to get a medicare supplimental plan. MRS KJAM22 says I would have said... should I pull the car over now?

Concur and anything AARP is nothing but BS anyway.
I got so sick of the emails and mass mailings from them I filed a BBB complaint. AARP told the BBB I had been removed from all mailing list but I had several mailings and emails well after what they told the BBB. Finally got hold of someone higher up in AARP on the line. His reply to my getting pissed about the non-stop emails etc was (his words) “This may seem macabre and don’t take it the wrong way but if I enter you and your wife into the system as deceased that would end all mailings for good.”
My reply: “Consider us dead.”
Haven’t anything from them sense!

More at the typical males-are-stupid meme.

I laugh at a couple of commercials — guy has an accident, adult children arrive and the first thing they talk about: You need more life insurance!
I think, watch out guy. If you get more life insurance, you may be cutting your life short, what with those greedy relatives and all.
