The Big Broadcast is a Sunday night tradition for families throughout the WAMU listening area. Each week, Big Broadcast host Ed Walker offers listeners priceless recordings of popular radio programs from the '30s, '40s and '50s. Priceless, especially, for a man whose first sentence as a child was, 'Turn the radio on.'

Hello all, happy Sunday, it's a beautiful Autumn day here. It was down to the 40’s last night. Yuck.

An interesting lineup with no weaknesses tonight...Kraft Music Hall is somewhat new but it has Lucille Ball...Falcon and Michael Shayne are an hour of detective shows...and we end strong with Lux with Allan Ladd.

Oh, and go Orioles!

How's it going out there?

Hi, Vision! It was cool last night, but not very cold, only dropped to 50 last night. It was the first cool snap of the season. Today was perfect. The cold front has moved through, and it’s going back up into the mid-to-upper 80s all week.

How’s it going with you?

Things are good. First, I'm focused on winning an auction tonight for a kitchen pan, am keeping my fingers crossed.

Second, holy mackerel, you have got to try this recipe. Made this yesterday.

Third, the O’s won!

Wow! You made that turkey, or did you use a chicken? I’ll bet you used a chicken.

I used a turkey. 18lb. I buy them when they're giving them away and keep them in deep freeze. There are lots of leftovers (:

Seriously, that rub and sauce is amazing.

Yes, I wondered if you also did the gravy. Wow! I can see how that paste and glaze seals in the moisture. You can freeze the leftovers or share them with your Dad and friends. :-)
