Norm, I’m still kicking. Since December 30, 1998.

Lurked for a few months starting in the summer of 1998, having been so disgusted by Clinton, and then finding this site was a lifesaver.

Came on my own from NJ to DC for the March for Justice on Oct. 31, 1998. I can still remember walking toward the Washington Monument and coming up over the rise of a hill and seeing 4,000 fellow minded patriots there, with flags a-streaming!

All who answered the call of an Internet pioneer named Jim Robinson. People from so many states had come. A very young and not very well-known Ann Coulter addressed the crowd.

Six weeks later the President of the United States was impeached.

In 1999 and 2000, I attended some of the Saturday morning Freeps at the White House, and had a lot of fun talking with the tourists. My favorite sign to hold was the one of Clinton waving and it said “Clinton Crime Wave”. I am in a LOT of tourists’ picture around the globe.

In 2000, this site was critical in the post election period to galvanizing folks against the clear vote fraud in FL, and of course, the demonstration outside the Al Gore VP residence in DC. And Registered’s Sore Loserman graphics, which went viral.

In 2004, this site exposed CBS and Dan Rather and Mary Mapes’ naked smear of George Bush as well as supported the SwiftboatVets. These two things critically influenced the electorate during August, 2004,between the conventions of the two parties, and unbelievably both George Bush and Karl Rove excoriated those who led both efforts.

In 2007 we helped rally the country to defeat “immigration reform”, and we were to finally get a fence on the Southern border. But the GOP’s Kay Bailey Hutchison took out the funding the next year. Et tu, Kay?

In 2008, we lost to a disaster named Barack Obama. This site vetted him, but the American media and public did not. We rallied behind Sarah Palin, a true conservative VP candidate, only to watch the ever traitorous John McCain throw the election to a Muslim gay man from Chicago.

We reeled from that, and rallied in 2009 and 2010 in favor of the Tea Party, and returned the GOP to power in the House in 2010, where, beginning in January, 2011, they betrayed us and America, refusing to thwart Obama.

In 2012, the GOP put up Mitt Romney, who in spite of all of Obama’s flaws and misdeeds, could not run a decent campaign in one of the most critical elections of our lifetimes.

Now, in 2014, we have one backstop left to us to contain the damage caused by Obama, and the GOP considers us to be a worse enemy than the Dems. Just wow.

No one will be able to write a true political history of the last 16 years in Ameirca without mentioning FreeRepublic.

Did not sign up until December 30, 1998 because I was just intimidated by the knowledge and depth of discussion here.

Now, many of the folks are remembered here, on the FreeRepublic Memorial Wall:

Just passed my 25,000th post last week. Many others have far more.

All thanks to a man in California named Jim Robinson.

He may not have a leg to stand on, as he jokes, but he stands as a giant among men.

And I thank him, and all of you, for allowing me to be on this journey.

I’m still here, and I remember . . .

I was told about FR by Michael Rivero way back when Diana died. I signed up a few months later as CitizenX.

As time went by it became harder to use do a self search because I kept getting posts to Citizen and CitizenX7.

So I resigned as Mr_Magoo. I picked Mr_Magoo because I went to a pistol range and discovered my glasses needed replacement!

Eventually even Mr_Magoo became a crowded mess and JR helped me combine everything into my current and final name ===>Petruchio<===

I still post once and a while, but most of my efforts are focused on staying alive. I have stage 4 cancer and recently the cancer has been winning. I know one day my name will be added to the FR Wall, I never thought of that when I started that Wall way back when . . .
