I had a '69 Cougar. Sweet ride. Loved those peek-a-boo headlights and the sequential rear turn signals.
Then there was Mustang, Javelin, Thunderbird and so many more.
I always wondered how reliable were these old cars? I know late 70s to 2000 was bad but were American cars previous to that reliable?
I wish I had my ‘68 Barracuda back. (sigh)
I had a 67 Cougar that I bought from an uncle. Wife didn’t like it at all. I didn’t get to enjoy it much. All the hydraulics in the brakes were gone. Anytime I tried to anything with it, something more important came up.
I miss the car. I’d like to lay my hands on another one.
I had a 1965 Pontiac Catalina. Great car.
I grew up in a small town in northern Michigan and remember back in either late '68 or early '69 before I left for the Army, I was with my cousin in his 67 Camaro with the 302 performance package which he of course souped up, driving a sort of desolate road between Boyne city and Boyne Falls when we spotted Mickey H.'s GTO on the side of the road.
Since there had always been a sort of rivalry between my cousin and Mickey, we popped the hood on the GTO and "borrowed" the chrome hood on his air filter........LOL!
