How can people ignorant of history claim to be on its right side?

How to explain the liberal embrace of cultural movements that presage cultural collapse even as they claim to be on the right side of history? It can only be their complete ignorance and rejection of history's actual lessons.

I'll use only three examples even though the entire liberal mindset follows the same upside down "logic". The examples are: homosexuality, Islam and immigration.

I'm currently reading a review of Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel paintings and the authors, Blech & Doliner, take pains to highlight the homosexual subculture that accompanied this great artistic flowering. They neglect to mention that this flowering was coincident to Italy's political suicide that ushered in not one, not two but at least three foreign armies marching back and forth over my beautiful homeland and subjugating its people to 300 years of foreign domination. Rome itself was literally sacked in 1527 by Germans.

And this is not a one-off; Greece, Rome, the Ottoman's, the Spaniards, the French and finally the English empires were all hollowed out at their core by the practice, and this is important, the acceptance of homosexual activity.

Only someone completely ignorant of Islam's history could ever refer to it as a religion of peace. It was spread by the bloody edge of the sword and that same bloody sword remains its calling card to this very day. Wherever Islam exists there is intolerance, supression, and faith-based ritualized murder. Practices considered abhorrent and barbaric even in the middle ages continue today and are spreading in countries dominated by this blood thristy cult.

Finally, immigration: Rome had been hollowed out by dacadence and corruption for centuries but it was the opening of their borders in the 3rd & 4th centuries that signalled the final and catastophic collapse of the western empire. Allowing hordes of people in w/ no allegiance to the existing culture ushered in centuries of plunder and pillage and the ultimate destruction of all civil society.

There are many other examples of cultural suicide in history's sad annals and every single implulse is being embraced and celebrated by the liberals in our midst. History has neither been interrupted nor suspended. There is no doubt that our current path will lead to a new dark age and our children and their children will bear the burden of our self-imposed ignorance.

Liberals claim to be on the right side of history, because someone invented that phrase as a talking point in the homosexual marriage debate. Liberals think they have all the wisdom in the world, and that conservatives are hateful and bigoted and all that. Liberals feel a sense of superiority and self-importance in their views. Liberals have a certain arrogance about their views, which feeds on itself, meaning that anyone who don’t agree with the liberal view of an issue are not just of a differing opinion, but evil.

Liberals have a strange view of good and evil too. Evil is not found in Islamic terror and war, for example, per liberal criteria. But evil is found in someone opposing homosexual marriage. Opposing homosexual marriage is enough to get their panties in a twist, but not ongoing war by Islamic fighters who would cut off their heads if given the change. Liberals just view the world and situations differently.

"Liberals just view the world and situations differently."

That's because in their hearts most of them have abandoned God.

Surprised they didn’t use 3rd wave feminism as an example. It is having a toxic effect on free speech, forcing men out of their homes away from their children, and fostering an environment of narcissism. Even peer review and scientific research is under attack.

Oh that’s easy. History starts today. Remember Pol Pot? History isn’t knowledge or experience or wisdom. It’s simply a quaint leftover of little or no use and it doesn’t smell any better with time. Especially when you have so many neat slogans to sing with your pals.

Look to the Dept. of Education! That’s where the problem is! We need to take the government back!

We have to work to do it!

Stupid is as stupid does. They are too stupid and co-opted to know anything else. It is sad.

lately, with these articles of this topic I have been momentarily thinking “and how can we come back from these wrong practices?”. Just now I asked myself “how did they come back?” then I realized they did not come back. Looking at the list of fallen societies they are still in ruins.

I've studied alot of history and it seems to me that its not something that can be managed, least of all from a central location.

The spirit of the age is something that wells up from the mass of people like a wave. Standing athwart it and yelling stop never works.

Even still, its the hard headed holding fast that preserve the most important elements and they are the ones that remain after the wave recedes.

Stand on truth my FRiends and rely on Jesus; we will come through on the other side, stronger and better.

"fallen societies they are still in ruins"

True, the nations and the superstructure of society has been swept away, but the people remain, at least those people w/ the moral certainty of their ancestors are able to survive and rebuild.

"3rd wave feminism"

Such people have abandoned not only their fathers but also their children.

After they've burnt down their houses, where will they live?

The other name for Zinn history is “fiction.” Also see “comedy,” “propaganda,” and “lies.”

How can people ignorant of history claim to be on its right side?

The answer is surprisingly simple.

Ronald Reagan shared several astute observations one of which provides the answer.

"The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant: It's just that they know so much that isn't so."

Mark Twain's observation is more general but shares the same sentiment.

“It ain’t what you don’t know that gets you in trouble. It’s what you know for sure that just ain’t so.”
