“The cops in my area dont have these cameras on purpose. And one of them candidly admitted it is because some perps come in a bit, uh, roughed up. But it is a small community and everyone knows everyone. Things are handled a bit more old school out here. Saves a lot of taxpayer money.”
And you think it isn’t even remotely possible they might ‘rough up’ the occasional innocent person? That is the problem with ‘old school’.
This isn’t a school. This is people’s lives that a cop can screw over because he felt dissed. Blunt fact, if they deliberately choose not to record because they know it will film wrong actions, they are criminal cops. That is a deliberate decision to cover form crimes. Is that what we pay cops to do? Or do we pay them to stop crime?
I have zero respect for that, and my understanding of their concerns is just as dead.
as for
“and its true that normal human behavior can be misconstrued and when every word is recorded, you cant function in your job in a PC world.”
We’re supposed to operate in the world with them watching our actions. And cops have only themselves to blame. They made the choice to create the Thin Blue Line. If they had policed their own, we wouldn’t have to do it for them.
I prefer old school, but like to do our best to weed out the guys that don’t function well in a position of authority in that paradigm.
Of course, it’s a failed paradigm as we are learning in another institution where “old school” has run its course and bit us in the butt. That would be the congress.
Excellent comments, thanks
