Its hard to know ....motive?
Maybe he wanted medical care in the US.....
stupidity and ignorance?
seems farfetched but maybe
I can't think of another reason to do what he did

Could be. Other reason......biological terrorism. Not helped by the stupidity at the border and hospital.

Yes, knowing he had been exposed, he wanted care in a US hospital, and lucky US taxpayers, WE get to pay for his multimillion dollar care. They’ve probably had to shut down an entire hospital wing.

If he wanted American medical care for ebola, you might think he would tell his doctors that he had been exposed. But he didn't.

He had planned the trip and purchased the ticket well before his Ebola exposure, which occurred only four days before he got on the plane. Supposedly, all the passengers boarding the flight were screened. He passed.
He must have been in a state of denial, given he didn't push back when, on his first visit to a US ER, he got sent home with an antibiotic prescription and pain medicine. He told them he was visiting from Liberia. They didn't get the hint. Why no "Hey doc! I handled an Ebola patient nine days ago!"? He must have convinced himself he wasn't in danger, confirmed by the ER doc's lack of concern.
