a “no guns” zone like NYC probably would be their preference

I work in Manhattan and go through Penn Station every morning. There's a ton of guns about.

The citizens are unarmed, but there are various combinations of uniformed military and police with some big ass automatic weapons all over the place.

So, the bottom line, if the little jihadi dickheads show up, they're pretty well screwed, but if government tyranny rises up, the citizens are pretty well screwed.

The criminal element, of course, is well-positioned no matter what develops.

unfortunately, even with all those guns, you won’t ever see it coming in all those throngs and masses of multicultural citizens. Including white european-looking guys - and women.
Every burqa winter coat or turban could cover a bomb belt.

stay safe and good luck, friend

I bet the military and police have hired their quota of Muslims so as to not offend them.

They are basically a bunch of mouth jockeys but wouldn't move on Penn Station for the reasons you stated. A mall or hotel would be ideal but I doubt NY would actually be a first choice insomuch as they are talking it up so much ( think misdirection).

A better choice would be several smaller but coordinated actions in the heartland. These people are nuts but not stupid. What they are doing right now is prepping the field to raise the anxiety.
