To: St_Thomas_Aquinas

Back when I was in pro-life activism a bit, I met a woman who had several abortions. She was adamant that without a spiritual conversion she would never have become pro-life. At the time I thought people might be reasoned with, with an appeal to natural law or something. Another time, I talked to someone working for pro-life in the black community, a pastor. He also was adamant that without religious conversion a change of position on abortion is not possible.

I’m not totally convinced they’re right about it being the only way, but their real life experience is compelling.

Yes. I don’t mean absolutely impossible. But it is a spiritual problem. If you’ve ever prayed in front of an abortuary and seen the “counter-demonstrators,” you’ve seen that plainly. They swear and shriek. Some look like they walked off the set of a zombie movie.
