I saw The Who in 82, and that was one of the loudest concerts in history.

The Who defined "loud" and they meant it. The line from "This is Spinal Tap" where they said they were England's loudest band was a rift on The Who.

That’s for sure. The speaker stacks at that concert were seriously as large as houses—one on each side of the stage. I’ve never seen anything else even close. That didn’t count any of the other “regular” speakers all around the stadium. The Who did a lot of experimentation with speakers, and it was always about pumping up the volume. Lol

It was a Halloween concert I’m SoCal and pretty much defines crazy. Tons of fun, but incredibly loud. Aeeosmith got me worse just because of proximity, but the volume didn’t come close to The Who.
