I asked Mrs. Hammond if she would be an organ donor, and she said she was all keyed up for the idea, but she would have to put on her pedal pushers first...

I understand the need for organ donations, but am opposed to this type of statist crap. They could increase the number of voluntary donors very easily just by offering something like a $4 discount on your driver's license renewal if you checked the box.
Yeah, I know. Everybody would call that "organ selling" and get their panties in a twist. But the donor could easily revoke the donation at the next renewal or by paying $1 for every year remaining. They let you check boxes on the PA tax return for all sorts of donations of your refund (or extra payment as the case might be).
The State could simply say they are giving the option to donors to earn $1 per year off for being civic minded.

Another stupid law to fix a problem caused by a previous stupid law. If they would just repeal the law making it illegal to pay for organ donations the shortage of the most frequently transplanted organs (kidneys) would disappear.

Well, legalizing murder will certainly increase the supply of transplantable organs.
UPMC and UPenn Hospitals no doubt are lobbying in Harrisburg as we speak.

"Condemning to death" persons on the waiting list or
condemning to death people with salable organs.
