I also really loved the theme from “Chariots of Fire” by Vangelis and “Empire of the Sun”.
Same with ‘Gamera versus Barugon’. The ‘Godzilla’ genre gets no respect.
Absolutely not.
Lawrence of Arabia, Gone with the Wind, The Godfather by Rota was magnificent, Henry Mancini’s Pink Panther or Breakfast at Tiffany movies, and I freely admit I have a personal like for Hans Zimmer. The Davinci Code. I just like it, can’t help it.
But anyone who thinks Gone with the Wind or or Lawrence or Arabia or Star Wars can be beat is crazy.

I loved Yann Tiersen’s scores for Goodbye, Lenin! and Amelie.
WSS was not an original score - it was derived from a stage work.
True. Good soundtrack, though!
Marvin and Eastwood were robbed...
You are correct.
No argument from me. I just preferred Jaws.
Kubrick liked the temp score so much that he wanted to use it for the released version of the film. However, MGM wanted an original score.
Kubrick then contracted Alex North to do the score. North, who was one of the great film composers, had worked with Kubrick on Spartacus.
North composed the score for the film.
However, when North attended the premier screening, he discovered that Kubrick had abandoned his score and had used the temp score instead.
Needless to say, North was upset.
Some have said that Kubrick made the right decision. I have the CD and have listened to it several times, and I agree.
