If the Bond movies were true to the Ian Fleming novels, there wouldn’t have even been a Jaws character. Nor did the novels have a “Q” character supplying Bond with all those gadgets.
The only thing the James Bond movies and books had in common were some of the character’s names- the novels were different from the movies in every way.
James Bond has basically become a superhero comic book character in order to keep folks interested.
