RE:&rdquoKeerful what Ya wish for - some bureaucrap in an agency wants to make a career of “reintroducing” large bodied predators. Yes, that AgencyPerson knows predators are about impossible to control and they are fearfully expensive, with most of that expense being salaries, of course”

I live near the woods in Maryland.

I largest predators I see are Foxes, and they take care of the mice, rats, etc

The Deers roam free and cause havoc, destruction and Lyme disease.

The county does allow controlled deerhunts (using bows) on their land each fall, one weekday per month. But its not enough.

The Woods here is being replaced by housing too fast.

So do I, in Mongomery County. Over twenty years of hiking and tracking in these woods I have seen bobcats, coyotes and feral dog packs. Black bears wander down every few years as well. But they are not enough to make a dent in the deer population. One of the problems is that so much land is under government controll precluding hunting, fueled by anti-hunting sentiments. NIST has a large campus with several herds totaling between 250-300 deer. A controlled hunt was stopped one time and a deer birth controll effort was suggested. I guess some gov-school graduates thought that years of rolling condoms over cucumbers gave them insight regarding breeding habits of deer.
