A second set of side-wheels came into view. This vessel was a four-wheel drive ferry cruiser, designed to walk along the bottom of a river or lake. It was a river-bottom side-wheeler, and the only one anyone present had ever seen.
I don’t think the toy plane at the top is a model of a real plane... :p
That was a real aircraft.
The Doak Vz-4DA was a tilting ducted fan VTOL.
It currently resides in a museum.
The US Army Transportation Command Museum last I knew.

Youtube has video of it looking bizarre.
It was not the only tilting ducted fan.
Bell X-22A also did the same thing, with four fans.
It crashed after an onboard accident, second aircraft completed the test program.
