Some guns should never be pocket carried, holster or not. 1911 type actions and Glock actions are the worst offenders. I can’t count the number of times I have removed a 1911 from a proper holster and found the safety had been knocked off. A Sig 938 cocked and locked pocket carried in a holster is asking for a Darwin award.

More S&W J frames are pocket carried sans holster than in a holster as they aren’t needed. Something like a Kahr CM9 is every bit as safe, and will not go off like a glock or SAO action will.

Research is good for EVERYONE to do.

A pocket holster also disguises the outline of the gun and does a pretty good job of keeping it oriented appropriately in your pocket.
Don’t believe that your trigger is so hard and long that it is safe with no pocket holster, don’t pocket carry without a pocket holster.
Don’t pocket carry a gun with an external safety and expect the safety to stay on.
Obviously some guns are not suited to pocket carry at all.
Take a class, research best practices. It is your responsibility to carry right or don’t carry.
