Israel and I are are usually in Defcon 1 in public, but I/we agree with you, if there is any truth to “Israeli carry”.
The thought of some of the Yahoo’s rubbing shoulders in public, and carrying ‘cocked-and-locked’ 1911s and Glocks, (which are ‘half-cocked’ with a round chambered) gives me the willies.
I’m sure ‘Professor Corey’ here also assured his nervous wife, “Pish posh, dear. I’ve been carrying a round chambered (and no safety?) with absolutely no problems .... “.

Hey, whatever their origin, bullets hurt. For you Johnny Ring is, at least consider getting a DA/SA: like Sig or CZ, rather than going around with only 5.5 pounds of trigger pressure standing between your trigger and femoral artery. Or more importantly, mine.

I on the other hand, paid the 10 bucks to have the consealed carry license, because I don't want the confrontation. So I know I have it, if I truly need it.
Plus most everyone out here is armed. I am OK with that. If it's not on them, it's in their car/truck.
I always carry with a round chambered and my firearm has no safety.
If and when I ever need to use it, it is likely I want to it to go bang as soon as I need it without having to manipulate it.
In a shooting situation certain things typically happen. Flee, fight or freeze. If one is in the two latter conditions, then the high adrenaline rush typically renders fine motor skills diminished.
And while the typical superhero is always calm in shooting situations most people are not and have to be prepared for it.
