No so long ago a jury in Texas convicted a homeowner for doing almost the exact same thing and sentenced him to 20 years.

Really? It's said that she was seriously drunk.Women who are seriously drunk are usually floppy rather than aggressive.The fact that she was "banging" on the door doesn't necessarily mean she was in an aggressive frame of mind.It could have meant that she was frightened and confused.

Conversely, never EVER pound on a complete stranger's door in the middle of the night or the early morning hours. You might get shot.

As I understand the story, everyone involved behaved stupidly. She crashed her car while drunk and was still drunk and erratic three hours later when she pounded on his door, at 2:30 am. He opened his front door to an erratic drunk and then fired his shotgun through the screen door rather than closing a solid door and dialing 911, again at 2:30 am. Both lives were ruined because of their stupidity. It’s sad how expensive the lessons are if you don’t learn from small mistakes when you’re younger.
