Well thank you! I was just waiting for my chance to opine as to the cause of this, which is IMO, the common usage of the term to refer to the external female genitalia, properly called the pudendum. But who has heard of that? It’s much of a muchness.
Yes, over time, “vagina” has been casually redefined to refer to the whole kit and caboodle. Vulva, uterus, they throw in everything but the kitchen sink and call it “vagina.” Makes me crazy. They don’t know where it is and they don’t know what it is. It makes Victorian ladies seem positively enlightened. There’s no excuse for it!
