My Podcast Roster

Now that we are essentially outside the range of all but the local radio station (singular) which plays both country and western music, my podcast listening has increased even more than it was in the past. I still listen to some broadcast shows as podcasts, which for the most part is an excellent option. Others are strictly webcast, but either way I keep my ancient mp3 player chock full of good stuff to listen to while I am working around the homestead or in the shop or on the road.

“The Shrugging Out Podcast” from Pete Ferron, recording from “Liberty Ridge, somewhere in the natural state of Arkansas,” is at the top of my list. Pete’s commentary on current events is always insightful (which might mean only that I agree with him) and his common-sense tips about rural life are always informative. And speaking of rural life, I have become quite a fan of Scott Terry’s “Christian Farm and Homestead”, “the voice of the Covenental Christian agrarian movement.” That sorta describes me. Scott isn’t the most charismatic fellow, but his earnest dry wit has won me over. “Econtalk” is always an anticipated delight, as professor Russ Roberts discusses society, history, and politics from an Austrian economics perspective, often with non-Austrian and even collectivist guests. The show is posted first thing Monday mornings, and I download it at the first chance I get. (http://www.econtalk.org/)

Probably my favorite “every day talk show” is that of “Pete Kaliner” who broadcasts from Asheville NC. I used to follow Pete late at night on WBT but after he left there I lost track and recently re-found him. Pete is a witty, serious analysts of a liberty-minded but not libertine bent. My favorite every-day broadcaster would be “Chris Plante” from WMAL in DC were it not for the fact that as of the last time I gave it a listen the program contained ALL the commercials and news interruptions, whereas none of the other broadcast podcasts do not edit them out. “Steve Deace” is an unabashed conservative Christian activist and pretty sharp broadcaster from Des Moines. He is a recent discovery to me, but he is definitely on the download-and-listen list at every chance. He reminds me of a young Ralph Reed with a fair bit more sense about things. “Radio Free Redoubt” is podcast from the Northwest Redoubt of Idaho/Montana/Wyoming, chronicling the endeavors of local communities readying for the coming fascist state. Living in the Appalachian Redoubt myself I find their observations worthwhile. (http://radiofreeredoubt.podbean.com/)

“Liberty Classroom” is the on-line educational project from the same folks who brought us “The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History.” It is not a podcast so much as a subscription educational product, and I have very much enjoyed al the courses they have provided for me. The lectures are usually so deep that it takes two or three listenings to get it all. (http://www.libertyclassroom.com/courses/)

John Derbyshire’s weekly commentary “Radio Derb” is must listening for anyone willing to entertain his usually politically incorrect skewering of the weekly news, but rarely (never?) with a caustic tone. As you might expect from a trained mathematician, Derbyshire tends to dissect the news with a coldly calculating, albeit charming, discourse. His observations of population migration are bound to make you respond, “I can’t believe he said that out loud!” Anyone who was fired by National Review for essentially being a traditional conservative is all right by me. “The Preparedness Podcast” from Rob Hanus is usually a half-hour on a single topic related to the coming social/political/economic upheaval. Sometimes big-picture and sometimes little-picture, it is always excellent. (http://www.thepreparednesspodcast.com/preparedness-podcast/)

One of the best radio shows bar none in Greg Garrison’s Wednesday “Kitchen Cabinet” wherein the entire show is dedicated to getting analysis from a lineup that is spectacular. Usual guests include Jed Babbin, Michael Ledeen, Steve Moore, Chris Horton, David Horowitz, Frank Gaffney, and the national treasure Victor Davis Hanson. As a matter of practice I also bookmarked the podcast page from the Hoover Institution to keep track of any radio appearances by Dr. Hanson. (http://www.hoover.org/research/type/podcasts)

Brian Wilson’s “Libertas Media Project” produces episodes at an irregular schedule, but his frequent guests include Andrew Napolitano and a range of interesting folks with challenging things to say. (http://libertasmediaproject.com/pod.html)

“Off the Grid Radio” is a usually excellent weekly podcast on an unusually wide range topics designed to “break you out of the control grid.” Recent shows included discussions of topics as disparate as EMP dangers and the war on raw milk. The same folks who produce Econtalk also provide a weekly “Liberty Law Talk” which is a recent and much appreciated addition to my roster. Like Econtalk, Liberty Law Talk is a serious but not stultifying discussion of sometimes esoteric subjects, always with good grace and insight. (http://www.libertylawsite.org/liberty-law-talk/)

On a much lighter note I download old time radio shows from the “Old Time Radio Archive”, especially the old detective shows. I’m currently working my way through the “Let George Do It” series, but my all time favorite was the Pat Novak Show, starring a pre-Dragnet Jack Webb. It is solid gold. For a hysterical sendup of old time detective shows I download “Black Jack Justice.” It is so purposefully campy that I really do often laugh out loud at the banter between Black Jack Justice and his business partner Trixie Dixon, Girl Detective. And don't forget Librivox.org, home to thousands of recorded books. I've downloaded everything from the complete American Standard Bible to The Count of Monte Cristo.

Other podcasts I listen to occasionally include The Covert Prepper, Gun Talk, Destiny Survival, Freakonomics, the CATO podcast, the Tom Woods Show (when he isn’t spouting Ron Paul nonsense), and the John Batchelor Show.

!. Laura Ingrham..I finally found a free best of podcast at Podbay.FM but before that I had to stream it it on a station or I had download off torrwnt. The Torrent was in full with commercials.
2. Rush Limbaugh..I used to pay for the podcasts, but then I went to torrent. But now I foun it free on a site called recoredradio.com so I don;t have to download it or use Dar.FM
3. Steve Deace... He is on a couple of the podcasts sites, but also has some podcasts on his website though sometimes they take time to put them up for more recent shows. He left WHO then after only 2 years he left Salem, so now he is with USA Radio.
4. Hannity... I think he had to move his podcasts to I heart once he joined Clear Channel so to download you need a FLV downloader like Internet Download Manager as no area to download on the page, but it has been free since he left premier radio.
5. Dana Loesch...Been always free at her flagship in Saint Louis...KFTK FM 97.1. Though she moved to radio America, her old station still runs her.
6. Joe Pags’ America Now show and the Weekends with Pags show... Podcasts on Recordedradio.com
6. Mark Levin...His podcasts have always been free at his site, but now with him at WABC..they link to the WABC radio player and can be downloaded off the site.
7. Michael Savage.. there is a site housing his show, but also WABC has podcasts and you can get weekly audio by the hours he is on on KSFO. I use WABC, but I think they don’t do the final hour so one can find it elsewhere.
8. Spencer Hughes...He left KSFO to a neighboring San Francisco station. I haven’t checked for podcasts so I will soon. But if you know him then you know he did about 8 years on Fox News Radio with Fox Across America.
9. Agenda 21 Radio.. decent show and his podcasts are now house on some site that runs his show lately, but the site for his show links up to it. Before it was on the local station running him. Either way it is a great show.
10. Coast 2 Coast AM... Once payed for the podcast, but then I found it on Youtube. But I think both Recordedradio and Podbay house the show now.
11. Red Ice Radio is a English speaking show from Europe like C2c and You can get some shows at Youtube, but it is always missing the final hour. You want the full show then you must pay.
12. Both Art Bell and a Former host of Coast 2 Coast have sites. Art runs Dark Matter Radio and the other guy started The Midnight Caravan. There are podcasts from both sources on Youtube. Last I check Art ran the Dark Matter Radio site but he didn’t broadcast. He tried on XM, but he hated it and quit.
13. Both Alex Jones and Pete Santelli have podcasts somewhere on the web. I think the controversial Pete has his show as well on Youtube. Alex has podcasts as well on his site, but some fans created a podcast site with his shows as well. It’s another goofball named Jeff Rense that is all pay to get his podcasts so I never hear him. And RBN closed the free podcast site, so all one can do is stream the station unless you want to pay. There is another site for conservatives called Red State Talk Radio.
14. there are other hosts who have podcasts and stuff. One is Laurie Roth. I also can hear the people on Salem Radio on either Stitcher or Podbay.fm and then there is also other networks like Radio America and CRN.
15. I can also get BBC and foreign shows from CBC or wherever in podcast.

19. I can find other shows If I search, but I haven’t been doing much more. Some I don’t hear much anymore are Bill Cunningham, Roger Hedgecock and Jerry Doyle.
20. Also Rusty Humphries does some podcast on the Washington Times site if your interested.

Three other shows worth checking out is The Hagmann and Hagmann report. They sound kind of dry at times, but do excellent shows.
