Strange in that she would not have had an anesthesiologist on the case; they should have been able to handle it themselves. The fact that a health facility had to call 911 is a very bad sign.
Why do you think she didn’t have an anesthesiologist? I’ve had procedures done at clinics and there was an anesthesiologist there.
My guess is they may have had a nurse CRNA administering propofol.
Years ago my brother was at his cardiologist's office and something went haywire....they actually called 911 and had him bambulanced across the street to the hospital.
My guess would be too much anesthetic. Joan is old, and the older you get, the harder some drugs hit you. I have to fight for my life with dental assistants, for example, as 1/4 the normal dose of anesthetics is enough.
I cannot imagine a world without Joan Rivers funniest woman ever. Prayers for her full recovery.
Pharmboy,What do you think of pharmacogenetics? I’m considering it, as a doc I knew decades ago told me that doctors, nurses, emergency techs would probably kill me with drugs trying to save my life should I be in an accident .

Prayers for Joan and her family.
If you fall in the parking lot of a hospital, they call 911. It’s more a transport thing rather than an inability to stabilize.
ANYONE who has professional responsibility at an outpatient center knows that it is usual and customary to call 911 if you are not INSIDE the facility where others can respond to and assist with a code situation. I work in a large, academic medical center. If anyone so much as faints anywhere on the hospital grounds, or in a distant part of the hospital, we call 911. You can’t have your professional personnel leaving the main facility. Just FYI
