I owned a couple of original 1976 year Nivas. Lada is still building it along with a newer Chevys. They tried to discontinue it since earlier 1990s but customers protested and they have restarted at least twice and somehow manage to sell it even in Germany and UK despite the fact it doesn't fit any modern regulations. This vehicle is a kind of a popular fetish in Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Germany.

I can’t remember the last time I saw one on the street, but I know hunters like them because they’re cheap, have good ground clearance for driving forest trails, and no one minds throwing a bloody deer carcass into the back.
