“The son of a friend of mine was in the local police academy. He left the program when he realized that he wasn’t being trained to be a public servant.
Basically, he was being considered for entry into a gang. Loyalty to the gang was to be valued above other considerations, such as the rights of the people with whom they would interact on the job.”
Did you ever think that just maybe your son’s friend got booted because he coudn’t cut the mustard? Many get weeded out of police academies during training for one reason or another. Of course if your friend’s son got booted, it would quite feasible that he blamed the PD and not himself.
Very true
I doubt that very much.
Police departements throughout the country rely on civil service competitive exams and physical ability tests
************************************
Civil service exams ... you say that’s why cops are so wonderful?
After my last reply I went back and re-read your response and I see no glaring difference between our views of the requirements, except you obviously don’t like that I pointed out that most departments do indeed weed out high achievers..
I don’t hate cops ,, I know cops ,, I have cops as relatives .. I see my viewpoint as accurate.. and I have the facts on my side.
You shouldn’t carry a gun, a criminal can easily take it away from you.
