Most of these shows are completely fake. Just like the ones about moonshine and everything else. Heck, even “Pawn Stars” is more fake than real.

All these reality series are sensational and their portrayals of pretty much everyone involved is manipulative. So I don’t think that this show is out to make the Amish look bad (in fact, I think, in the past, Hollywood has gone out of its way to make them look good). Its just the nature of the reality show beast to make everyone look bad. The quicker society moves on and drops reality shows, the better.

Does the veracity of a crappy television show really fall within the sphere of duties for a governor?

There are several sections of Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Scranton or Harrisburg (add you PA choice here) that would better match the last word of the title. Maybe they could send their Camera crews into those areas. The insurance rates for that should be interesting.

Good grief-that governor doesn’t have more pressing business to pay attention to?
TV shows are made to entertain-that is why ‘reality shows” are scripted, just like any other series. The actors are ordinary people, rather than professional actors-but I’ll bet that is the only “real” thing about most of those shows. And nearly all of them involve something supposedly forbidden/titillating...
“Deadliest Catch” and a couple of other this-is-my-job type shows might not have as much staging/scripting...
