“Because associating with successful others increases their positive feelings about themselves. It also changes their hormone levels. If their team wins their testosterone level shoots up and they feel good. If their team loses, their testosterone level goes down and they feel miserable. Their team’s success also affects their cortisol levels.”

In other words they are displaying the symptoms of an addict.

I feel bad for the Sox. I am not a die hard fan. It’s been a while since they were out this early in the season.

The pats game the other night was painful. I know it’s pre season, so I just turned the channel.

I dread the upcoming celtics season. At least I live close enough to UConn to “like” their basketball.

It is a bit Oprah for men - but I hate to tell you this :they are a TV network. Televised baseball sucks for ratings. A Sportscenter will crush televised baseball, as will any of their NFL discussion shows.

Television ratings are so much better for the high-school and college games they DO show? Face it, the programs they show are dirt cheap: A sports discussion show costs almost nothing to produce. PTI is almost as cheap as the Home Shopping Network.

You’re all over the place here, and not sure what your main point is. Yes, college football and basketball ratings slaughter MLB. They only show a few high school events a year, so that’s a non issue.

And yes, they’re cheaper to produce…but that’s beside the point. What do you mean “face it?” You are spouting factoids without heading in any direction.

You so don’t know what you’re talking about! ESPN — between the various channels — shows far more non-pro baseball than pro baseball. College, high school, and even little league baseball. Not because MLB doesn’t get ratings... if you think high school baseball gets better ratings than MLB, you’re on crack. But because it’s dirt cheap, and ESPN has found that there are enough douches and jocks who would rather watch talk about sports than watch sports.

You so don’t know reading comprehension, or how to stay on topic, and you obviously are a frustrated baseball fan projecting your own desires on a network that doens’t give a damn what you want.

My point was only, I repeat ONLY (that means ONLY) that their anchors say some stupid things sometimes because they have so much airtime to fill. I never said it was right, I never said it was wrong, I never said anything other than it is what it is.

You are trying to bring total irrelevancies into this to make yourself looks smarter than you are. I can’t stand televised MLB, so it seems to me they have too much of it. I don’t care for all the endless NFL related talk shows they have on ESPN either, but I know anything NFL kills anything baseball in ratings and has for decades.

You would do well to heed the words of that great philosopher Dirty Harry Calahan - “man’s gotta know his limitations…”

And don't even get me started on autographs

I have a hockey stick signed by Chris Chelios that was given to me by his brother when his brother was my neighbor........It was payment for hooking up his home theater system when he moved into the house.

That’s different. You weren’t chasing him down a stadium corridor like some 12-year-old girl at a David Cassidy concert.

Of course not, I waited at the end of the corridor and caught Cassidy when he ran out of breath.......

Dude, you know what? If you prefer Oprah-Winfrey style chat fests to baseball, that’s all you had to say. You didn’t need to make all those false statements, and you don’t need to act like a douche.

you were the asshole……right off the bat.

And apparently, I cannot type slowly enough for you to comprehend. You really have a problem with reading comprehension. You have a big time logic shortage.

This was never about what I was interested in. It was about an observation, which was on the damned money, and about your infantile miscomprehension of what the adults were talking about.

I can explain it to you - but I cannot understand it for you.

Before you know it, domestic abuse will be the cause du jour, the way ‘gay marriage’ made itself mainstream.

Wow, you’re an idiot. I wasn’t talking to you in post #9, which you responded to with the absurdly false claim that ESPN shows lots of MLB games.
