Not really. No one seems to care. I love my Mac. Switched several years ago. Windows just feels clunky.

No.

Just like people whose knowledge of technology is apps and downloading MP3s have been saying since 1993.

MS has outlasted every fad tech company for years, and every pronouncement that they are “over”. That is why they are a Blue-Chip stock and not a toy for people to brag about how much they paid for one share.

When Windows is on 90+ percent of laptops and desktops, yes, it does still matter.

When Macs still have about 5% of the PC OS market, and Linux is still around 1+ percent, YES, Microsoft still matters a lot.

The world still has abut 1 1/2 of PCs running with several versions of Windows in them, so, YES!, Microsoft still matters a lot. In fact, MS is still the leading OS and software company in the world.
