Mitch Kirsch got up before dawn Wednesday to use the bathroom in his Santa Clara Street home when he bumped into the intruder.
"He was right in front of me," Kirsch said. "I'm naked the whole time so it was a little awkward."
Kirsch grabbed the man, forced him to drop a laptop he clutched and then let him go.
"I don't really want to hold on to this guy for 10 minutes naked," Kirsch said.
After the burglar ran off, another break-in happened two houses down and police suspect it was the same man. He was described as white, about 5 foot 8 and 135 pounds.
In a one-week period at the end of July, police said they recorded more than 30 property crimes in Venice.
"I was so glad this guy wasn't armed," said Izumi Hamagaki, Kirsch's girlfriend.

How is someone being glad the burglar her naked boyfriend confronted was not armed equate to idiots?
Because they both should have been armed. But they weren’t, because they’re idiots.
So if the intruder was armed, he wouldn’t be an idiot?
He was naked.... I’m not going to ask where he should have kept his revolver.
Good to know you always take a gun with when you go to the bathroom.
Once I got ahold of some 135 lb. punk, he’s not going to feel like wandering down the block to rob somebody else.
(we’re assuming I’m in the same situation as the homeowner in this story....)

He meant the naked man and his girlfriend should have been armed. Not the naked man and the burglar.

I know what he meant, I was referring to his referring to the girlfriend being an idiot because she was glad the burglar wasn’t armed. Her feelings of relief don’t make her a idiot even we ourselves feel that being armed is a good choice.

But way way back in time, before her feelings of relief, she and the current boyfriend could have armed themselves, unless they’re of the anti-gun persuasion, or just lazy.

You know, I wonder did you completely miss the part in the story where the boyfriend was naked on his way to the bathroom and bumped into the burglar in surprise not knowing that someone was in his house and there was a quick struggle over the laptop? I don’t know, but do you routinely carry around a gun in the middle of the night while naked going to the bathroom? And nowhere in the story does it say the girlfriend was awake when it occurred. But you seem to know more so maybe you were there. While I exercise my 2nd Amendment rights I respect others who may not just so long as they don’t infringe on mine, I didn’t see anything in the story to lead me to believe they were anti gun.
He was a hero saving her laptop. She will now take care of his laptop.
