Considering they found ‘thousands of artifacts’, many of them jade, they seem pretty niggardly, oops, I mean skimpy, with photos... 4 only?

Why would someone invent a casting technology that hadn’t been used elsewhere in the ancient world, for a hoax?
If I was creating a hoax, I would try to use the exact techniques already known to be used in the ancient world.

The article is a filler (imo) because I see nothing unusual about the exaggerated features almost all ancient Chinese sculptures seem to have.
I think I saw a replica of that dragon face in last year's Chinese New Years festival in Chinatown
(No .. I have no idea if there WAS a new year's festival in Chinatown last year ... it's rhetorical)

The faces of those statues have elements that seem more Polynesian/Native American than anything else.
Compare, for example, the Chinese find on the left, with a wood carving from Easter Island on the right:
Or another statue from the Chinese find, on the left, with and example from the Cook Islands on the right:

I was reading a bit, and it seems that the standard theory is that the Polynesian migration began in Southern China, around the same time that these artifacts are dated to. So, we could very well be looking at the artwork of the people who would soon get pushed out of China by migrants from the north, and ended up colonizing all those pacific islands.
However, recent DNA analysis suggests the migrations may have started a couple millenia earlier, so who knows?

...by far the most striking findings were dozens of large bronze masks and heads represented with angular human features, exaggerated almond-shaped eyes, straight noses, square faces, and huge ears, features which dont reflect those of Asian people. The artifacts were radiocarbon dated to the 12th-11th centuries BC.
Thanks BenLurkin.

The huge ears... did they had a dynasty back in the day with Kenyan origins?

"Staring out from an ancient piece of pottery, the mysterious face of a bearded man has given scientists a unique glimpse of what the first settlers of Fiji may have looked like."
"Preliminary analysis shows that the eerie-looking face consists of a prominent raised nose, the left eye and what might be eyelashes, said Roselyn Kumar of the University of the South Pacific's Institute of Applied Sciences"
