I know this is going to make me sound old, but every time I see a photo from that film I think "Really?" I grew up reading about a very different group.

The only character from that cover that appears in the movie is Yondu, and most of his fin is missing...

Ditto your sentiments. I saw this group and said "Whaaaat?"
After Jim STarlin's treatment of Gamora and Drax, not to mention the stark melodrama that was the original Star Lord, this is cartoonville.
I'm sure it's great fun, but a lot less grey matter involved than the original incarnations.
And, IIRC, 'Rocket Racoon' was introduced in the second 'Sword in the Star' story by Bill Mantlo (the 'Wayfinder' series, with Keith Geffen doing the pencils). I still have the original black and white magazine in storage somewhere.

Wrong Guardians. But a version of Yondu is in it.

I first became aware of this group in the early 80’s as I was collecting comic back issues and purchased the Avengers. Korvac saga was great. Starhawk could not see “Michael” in the Queens home. I recall the Avengers & Guardians took a bus. They were all killed.
