In 2008, I stopped at a market in Colorado City to make some purchases, and momentarily thought I had gone through a time warp. The customers there were mostly women in their 20’s dressed in nineteenth-century style long dresses. There were also a couple of older men dressed in Western-style shirts and blue jeans. The clerk who took my money was also dressed in that nineteenth-century style.
The houses in Colorado City and Hildale tend to be rather large—obviously to accommodate polygamous families.
Most of these places are vacant. I was over there last week and it looks like a ghost town. Hard to understand a mentality of such idiotic obedience.
